First Impression of IS101

In my first tasks given, I did not have a hard time completing any of the actual work that was required of me. I had some confusion in the steps to follow along, of course, but this is why classes that require any type of computer work are better in-person. A simple clarification via teacher or fellow student's input can mean the difference between hours of work to minutes or even seconds. In person there is a clear understanding of one's issues that one can simply not obtain via any other means. I never expected this class to be formatted the way it was presented today. The only thing I wish to have done is to have been on top of any posts before the first day of class.

One thing this class has taught me thus far, is to treat anything in life (not just this class) with respect. Had I been on top of this class as soon as the class was loaded into Canvas, I may have left on time the Saturday I am writing this post. Not only this, but I may have had some bonus points in my back pocket as well. Being prepared can put you ahead of everyone else, this is a skill I hope to hone not only in this class, but outside of it as well. Moving forward I will take a life lesson to heart. Life can be easy or hard, the choice is up for you to decide.

  1. Very well said about the efficiency and effectiveness of in-person learning and help from the instructor!

Taking full ownership with "Life can be easy or hard, the choice is up for you to decide." and you staying in the classroom long after everyone else left, tell me you will succeed in IS101-3003, Fall 2023 and anything else you put your mind and energy to ^_^

I see you honing your preparation skills and earn bonus points throughout the semester, Manuel :-)

  2. Me being more of an hands-on learner, I agree with your first paragraph whole-heartedly. Sometimes I find myself reading instructions over and over again trying to make sense of something, when someone can come along and explain it in seconds.

  3. I love your ending sentence. That's something I tell my friends, family and co-workers all the time. Hardship is around the corner but it's our choices and how we face those situations what makes the difference. Thank you for sharing!

  4. I was also very confused with some instructions in the beginning. If it hadn't been for Mr. Wu reaching out to me, I wouldn't have known about the assignments on campus. Don't be too hard on yourself! You never stop learning in life. It's okay to make mistakes!

  5. I agree. Everything we learn can be applied to everyday life if we find value in the lesson. We learn from our experiences.

  6. I agree that anything technology based is always better to do in person. I am more of a hands on learner when it comes to technology as it can be difficult for me at times so I am glad I was able to take this course in person.

  7. I agree as well. I learn lot better in class setting then anything else. Because in class you not only learning form teachers but also form your follow classmates as well.

  9. The time Professor Wu puts into his classmates outside of the classroom has been very helpful, considering I am very hands-on as well. This class has definitely helped me be more efficient in my life and in other classes too! Thank you for sharing your personal experience and motivation to push forward in life.

  10. Definitely true, being an in-person class can make the process of understanding a statement much easier. I took an unfortunate while trying to understand and searching through the Blogger documentation trying to find how to make an account.

  11. I agree with your first paragraph, compare learning in-person to learning online, you get to understand more deeply when it's in-person.
